The Burrow School was founded on June 1, 2018 by best friends, Amberly Worley and Sadie Woodul. They worked for 10 years together at the beloved South Austin outdoor school, Habibi’s Hutch, before taking their passion for nature based, child-led, play based education and creating The Burrow. Inspired by the philosophies of Reggio Emilia, Te Whariki, RIE, Montessori, Waldorf and Forest Schools, they curated an environment for children and their families that has allowed for exploration, acceptance, connection, and discovery. It was not an easy journey. COVID definitely took a toll on everyone that will never be forgotten, but they thrived despite the struggles and opened The Burrow Bebe in October of 2020. Their dream to provide care for all ages of young children came to fruition!
For seven beautiful years, Ambi and Sadie poured their hearts into The Burrow. Four of their five children grew up within these walls – a true family business. Now, Amberly spends her days as a stay at home mom, while Sadie relocates to Albuquerque, NM with her family to pursue a Master’s Degree in Counseling. It is with great pride that they hand over their business to Kylie Stewart, our current director and owner. They are so happy to have The Burrow live on throught her. Thank you, Kylie!
